To Stand By You

To Stand By You

Thanks for your eyes
As those see my imperfection
Cherished your heart that apprised
What to welcome and for rejection

For your voice that reminds
I am at fault, need to talk
Acceptance means a lot to define
Timeless melody our hearts tracked

As we hold hands in the garden maze
We have time to explore in the prime of life
The challenge is real and we will not be fazed
I took strength with a lovely wife

This day holds something to remember
Even far apart, message sent from my heart
Time escapes as daffodils grow in April
Happy birthday, another hope to start

A Mother - My Wings to Fly

A Mother - My Wings to Fly

Devoted is the word to describe
For a mother that occurred in my life
Your thoughts and feelings are transcribed
Many times you hurdled in life’s strife

You made yourself least priority
A selfless person is what endeared you
Until now, you still cared for us warily
The life we had was the dream you drew

They brought fame, you gave us God
In the most trying times, we have an answer
Your teenage picture, tainted by old age
A picture that needs to handle with care

You are our prized possession
I have saved this special day for a special person
You tightly held the rope of life on perfection
In going uphill, you laid a proofed against all seasons

You held my hands in many adventures
From sadness to laughter-filled ride
From darkness to simple pleasures
I just made it to the other side

It is your birthday and we’ll never get tired
Of bringing back the love that you offer
Framed moments of yesteryears inspired
It brings our family closer together

Great gray hairs emphasized your rich time
Once a lively skin turned wrinkled
Nights unfolded, you are past your prime
Today is special for the first light ever kindled

Nine Wishes – Poem for my son

You are our liberator
For seven years confined
Searching for a love connector
You complete our lives, true hearts bind

All nine yards of happiness
Send it far up to nine planets
In scoreless game, evoking wittiness
On cloud nine, all in a bucket

Turning 9 years old is great
What have you made in your wish list?
Special nine wishes, genie can relate
I am out of the bottle; all I need is a kiss

Choose with care
And to choose the important one
Don’t turn 9 upside down on the square
Feeling old, do again your childish run

Nice, imaginative, nascent, eligible
Evidence to be special and be loved
Last single-digit birthday is appreciable
You’re fast growing up, it justly proved
