The Firefly Visit

The Firefly Visit
By: Noel N. Villarosa

While everything now is lighted
While everything has thrilling light effects
A long-time companion in the dark has been shortsighted
A gushing firefly light has so much to reflect

A child in this generation can only read from books
The marvel that a firefly brings
Curiosity makes them wonder, a chance to have a look
To spark in their eyes, a bare luminescence from its abdomen

Out of nowhere, a firefly came surprisingly
It fluttered and alerted a child’s excitement
It flew around emitting signals dashingly
Trying to communicate with enchantment

The child gloriously welcomed his visit
To the extent of catching and keeping him
The unexpected showing is something to rivet
To see a multitude of them is now a child’s wildest whim

In a few minutes, both have a wonderful time
The firefly looked like a fairy in the night
The spark that glimmers like a tiny lamp is sublime
The child named him Jack, as the evening’s first light

The Luck in Love, I see in you

Today is the day when we tied the knot
The luck in love was when I met you
That glimmers during day and night
And will not vanish like a celestial view

God has breathed two souls been searching
And so our prayers met and conceived
Passion to be with you and an undying love
As we find the rhythm of a new life beginning

Each year is glory, as we recall our vows
Nothing aureate but being together is enough
Trust is the foundation and it is all that shows
Quality time with family is what we cared about

Something lives within your gentle eyes
That can suit me in a dark, cool and damp place
It is the loving light that radiates and supply
The stream of life as a way to embrace

No love has ended without due romance
For it is something to share and far from lies
For in another life, I will still take the chance
The luck in love, I see in your eyes

Coming Together Again (IMO 1969-1991)

Coming Together Again
(Reunion IMO 1969-1991)

Around it, the military offices
Barracks at the other end
I chose to walk to view the vastness
Of the place where brave men blend

Innovate or stagnate its undying motto
Time is changing and more challenging
One must lead the IT and since mandated by law
NCC was born and begun its servicing

Destiny has brought me to join this office
Where the pioneers in IT ever lived
Input Machine Operation, the office I served
Data encoder and a controller on the service

New hopes set free
And chose the right people
To share knowledge, love, and camaraderie
Many events transpired and became a sequel

For life is queer, we parted ways
As every one of us needs to search
Like in the silver tint of the sky’s shades
We emerged and came up to a breathtaking journey

Like love always finds its way home
After a long years pass, many have changed
One day we will reunite and embrace each other
Like brothers/sisters gone away and coming together

Uncertain of feelings but with jubilance
Trying to capture moments, a way to begin
The smile and warmth acceptance will make a good ambiance
Our reunion will fulfill a compact that we will see each other again

Seeking For Shelter

Seeking For Shelter

Come forth, unwelcome, to the daybreak
Somewhat like a wrecking ball ready to smash
Every little shadow present on its break
With the furious wind coming in a flash

Shows no mercy and whips a deafening sound
For only sturdy structure can withstand
It gets off the ground and twisting around
Torturing all living beings close at hand

A strong typhoon has ravaged my beloved country
From horrified survivors spoke their worst nightmare
With teary eyes and spoke bluntly
Dead relatives lying strewn on every corner

Been separated from the rest of the Philippines
What though no hopeful message been received
Only a missive scrawled on paper been said
Hoping the next day could be seen on a television screen

Come forth, a helping hand extended
From abroad and locals showing fellowship
The world voiced out sympathy and pledged
Pouring support causing new hopes reverted

Not all bring good news back to loved ones
A heart-breaking note to say they are gone
This once beautiful island of the Orient
Now a backdrop of a community so ruined

I prayed to Almighty God that they may find shelter upon His Grace

WHO AM I

WHO AM I

BY: Noel N. Villarosa

12 August 2013

Once a sharp memory

Suddenly becomes empty

Flip through photo albums and open my mind

For those moments, I thought would bind

As I rub my eyes, I rub the time that pass

Staring long, picture’s story hard to amass

Memory is lost and wandered far away

Would you care to sit beside and remind me of the day?

I am very different now

Strangers all over again, only smile I could allow

Am I safer in truth or in lies that hide my being?

Perhaps in your asking, I would be wondering

I can feel the fading away of my ability

Trying to hold on to every piece of mobility

A vanishing world where shapes and shadows hide

Unimaginable, disoriented, and passive views of the slide

I may look aimless, as I open my eyes

Forgive my teary eyes, just a fix to rely

In still remembering you for a moment

Do not be weary of my asking, I am more than a friend

Remembering a Father

(Sonnet Form)
By: Noel N. Villarosa

A pair of shoes that walked many tests
Skipping and hurdling the hardest
Shockproof to the condition around
Halt to prepare for what tomorrows abound

A distinctive scent of sweat for a living
Upbringing of children is not failing
Many sails and flights brought them away
A love message to sustain each longing day

Hiding tears to withstand the test of time
Strong grip of every chance is sublime
Man of few words but a cherished action
Unload your worries, now at peace with God without distraction

In my most solitary moments
I will live to the image you represent
