The Kingdom of Words and the Five Children (Short Story for Children)

Once there were five friends namely: Pio, Malka, JD, Joakim, and Incredible Hulk who thought of being smarter than everyone else. An old folk on their village once told a story about a place where no one has gone before, and this place called the Kingdom of Words where one should solve a word puzzle before a fairy grandmother would let a stranger go.

One day while the five friends were playing in the garden, they found a lost word “Come” running around aimlessly in the garden, the five children were surprised to see a word that has come alive and they were wondering where it came from. The word “Come” rested on Pio’s shoulder and whispering to Pio, “I am 'Come'; I want you and your friend to help me find my way back to the Kingdom of Words.” Malka was thinking how could it talk and where this amazing skills it had was coming from. “We would like to help you but you must remember where was the last location you got lost?” asked by JD. Joakim almost toppled of what he just saw. Incredible Hulk still shocked shook his head. “Alright my little friend, we will help you to find your way back into the Kingdom,” said Pio.

The five friends and their little friend “Come” followed the trail where exactly it had passed through, and at the end of the road, they found a big old oak tree with a big opening on its trunk, they entered the hole and it was not just an entrance but what they saw was a grandeur bright Kingdom where you could see many words who were stomping, jumping, walking, hiding, and running.

Malka remembered what the old folk’s story about the Kingdom of Words where no one could get out unless he/she solved a word puzzle. “This could be the Kingdom of Words,” said Joakim.

Then from a wagon made of words, seated was the fairy grandmother holding a book of puzzle where one should solve. The fairy grandmother with just a flick of her wrist and wave of her fairy hand opened up the book and all the words bulged out to float on air. The fairy grandmother explained, “Some words have a missing letter and it is somewhere hiding which you need to find, five words you need to complete to solve the puzzle that will be your key to getting out of this place.” “If you completed a word, it will lead you to a clue for the way out of here.” “Here are the five words you needed to solve,” continued by fairy grandmother.

_OPE                                                                           M                   L

             BA_BOO                                                           R               T

_ORCH                                                                                   P

           O _EN
                                      F_Y

“These five words will help you find the way out, only you need to fill the missing letter which was somewhere hiding, each must help each other to solve the problem and find the missing letter, once you completed the five mystery words, and you will be able to come out from here,” Said by fairy grandmother.

Pio, Malka, JD, Joakim, and Incredible Hulk seated around to make a brainstorming to solve the puzzle. Pio explained, “I could see an opening from up there, but the problem is we don’t have anything to climb up there, only these five words are our tools, I think the first word is ROPE,” “Yes indeed, you are right Pio,” said by Malka. “I think the second word is BAMBOO,” pointed out by Malka. “The third word is TORCH,” said by JD. “The fourth word is FLY,” shouted by Joakim. “The last word is OPEN?” asked by Incredible Hulk. “Yes we are all correct, we needed a rope to tie those bamboos, a torch to light our way into that dark cave, to say the magic word OPEN to unlock the door, and finally we cling to the word FLY to put us safely down into the ground,” Explained by Pio. Then the five friends looked for the missing letter. Pio found the hiding letter “R” just behind the big rock and he put it to the word OPE to read as ROPE, Malka grabbed the hiding letter “M” under the water and she put it to the word BA_BOO to read as BAMBOO, JD ran after the letter “T” and grabbed it to put into the word ORCH to be read as TORCH, Joakim jumped over the letter “O” and put it to the word PEN to complete it as OPEN, and finally Incredible Hulk chased the letter “L” and grabbed it with his mouth and to put it into the word F_Y to complete it as FLY. The five children excitedly put all the captured letters to join to the incomplete words, they excitedly helped each other to finish the tasks: to tie with rope all the bamboos around to make a ladder for climbing up on the top of the cave, to light a torch to show the way, bringing the word OPEN to say it in front of a shut door, and to cling to the word FLY to bring them down safely to the ground. Below the ground, the fairy grandmother was waiting for the five children, and upon they were lowered down by FLY, the fairy grandmother handed over to Pio, Malka, JD, Joakim and Incredible Hulk the book of the puzzle. “This book of the puzzle, I will give it to you as your reward, this will help you in your everyday life struggle to find solutions to your problems and worries,” said by fairy grandmother. The five children went home bringing the book of the puzzle. THE END.

Keeping Memories Alive

At times when we fear of trying
The righteous come to encourage
At times, it seems not worth inspiring
Somebody will cheer and make us to believe

I don’t know what would you like to be
Now you are gone, maybe a butterfly
To bring respite on our despair and agony
Or maybe a kiss and hug as you fondly say

A corsage of beautiful memories
Your words of encouragement will live forever
Evocation of feeling been told in your poetry
I am grateful to know you as poet and achiever

God has called you in heaven
Your family and poetry soup grieved
Safely home, no more grief, no more pain
Poems reconnect us, or in heaven the chain will live

Birthday Sonnet For My Son

By: Noel N. Villarosa

19 April 2014

What is it like to be my little hero?

A morning chat would mean great adventure

A ride with your imaginary aero

Would fly us to places never gone before

Inside your world, we made things possible

We are both so strong to save the world

With unique powers, you are unstoppable

Put an end to villains with your mighty hurled

Within you, I see my own reflection

Full of imagination and a dreamer

Someday your dream would have a clear perception

What best for you, I would be your defender

Every day is like a blink of an eye

At 7 years old, time hastily flies

Close your eyes and bring back sweet memories
Try to remember at your early age
No recollection of your first few years
At age 6 was that far you could engaged

Wiping your face full of cake, dress like a princess
Friends and relatives joyfully singing
Greetings and gifts are the way to express
That day is still worth remembering

Open your eyes now and see what has changed
Childish fun is over, now settled down
Much meaningful life along the open range
Learned basics of life, now you have outgrown

Today is your birthday, another year to share
This special time with us, we really care

The Firefly Visit

The Firefly Visit
By: Noel N. Villarosa

While everything now is lighted
While everything has thrilling light effects
A long-time companion in the dark has been shortsighted
A gushing firefly light has so much to reflect

A child in this generation can only read from books
The marvel that a firefly brings
Curiosity makes them wonder, a chance to have a look
To spark in their eyes, a bare luminescence from its abdomen

Out of nowhere, a firefly came surprisingly
It fluttered and alerted a child’s excitement
It flew around emitting signals dashingly
Trying to communicate with enchantment

The child gloriously welcomed his visit
To the extent of catching and keeping him
The unexpected showing is something to rivet
To see a multitude of them is now a child’s wildest whim

In a few minutes, both have a wonderful time
The firefly looked like a fairy in the night
The spark that glimmers like a tiny lamp is sublime
The child named him Jack, as the evening’s first light

The Luck in Love, I see in you

By: Noel N. Villarosa
16 December 2013

Today is the day when we tied the knot
The luck in love was when I met you
That glimmers during day and night
And will not vanish like a celestial view

God has breathed two souls been searching
And so our prayers met and conceived
Passion to be with you and an undying love
As we find the rhythm of a new life beginning

Each year is glory, as we recall our vows
Nothing aureate but being together is enough
Trust is the foundation and it is all that shows
Quality time with family is what we cared about

Something lives within your gentle eyes
That can suit me in a dark, cool and damp place
It is the loving light that radiates and supply
The stream of life as a way to embrace

No love has ended without due romance
For it is something to share and far from lies
For in another life, I will still take the chance
The luck in love, I see in your eyes

Coming Together Again (IMO 1969-1991)

Coming Together Again
(Reunion IMO 1969-1991)

By: Noel N. Villarosa
5 December 2013

Around it, the military offices
Barracks at the other end
I chose to walk to view the vastness
Of the place where brave men blend

Innovate or stagnate its undying motto
Time is changing and more challenging
One must lead the IT and since mandated by law
NCC was born and begun its servicing

Destiny has brought me to join this office
Where the pioneers in IT ever lived
Input Machine Operation, the office I served
Data encoder and a controller on the service

New hopes set free
And chose the right people
To share knowledge, love, and camaraderie
Many events transpired and became a sequel

For life is queer, we parted ways
As every one of us needs to search
Like in the silver tint of the sky’s shades
We emerged and came up to a breathtaking journey

Like love always finds its way home
After a long years pass, many have changed
One day we will reunite and embrace each other
Like brothers/sisters gone away and coming together

Uncertain of feelings but with jubilance
Trying to capture moments, a way to begin
The smile and warmth acceptance will make a good ambiance
Our reunion will fulfill a compact that we will see each other again

Seeking For Shelter

Seeking For Shelter

15 November 2013

Come forth, unwelcome, to the daybreak
Somewhat like a wrecking ball ready to smash
Every little shadow present on its break
With the furious wind coming in a flash

Shows no mercy and whips a deafening sound
For only sturdy structure can withstand
It gets off the ground and twisting around
Torturing all living beings close at hand

A strong typhoon has ravaged my beloved country
From horrified survivors spoke their worst nightmare
With teary eyes and spoke bluntly
Dead relatives lying strewn on every corner

Been separated from the rest of the Philippines
What though no hopeful message been received
Only a missive scrawled on paper been said
Hoping the next day could be seen on a television screen

Come forth, a helping hand extended
From abroad and locals showing fellowship
The world voiced out sympathy and pledged
Pouring support causing new hopes reverted

Not all bring good news back to loved ones
A heart-breaking note to say they are gone
This once beautiful island of the Orient
Now a backdrop of a community so ruined

I prayed to Almighty God that they may find shelter upon His Grace
